Kohala Deluxe Solid Top Tenor Ukulele

Size Me Up
Sizing Information

Soprano -Soprano is the smallest of the four ukulele body sizes and is the traditional ukulele size.  The Honu Soprano is perfect for kids learning ukulele or for adults who prefer the brighter tone of a traditional ukulele.

Concert -Concert ukuleles are currently the most popular ukulele body size worldwide.  Bigger than a soprano but smaller than a tenor, a concert uke is the perfect middle ground for most players.  This size is suitable for all ages, though small children may be better suited to a soprano.

Tenor -Tenor ukuleles are exploding in popularity thanks to the full, deep sound produced by their larger body size.  Bigger than the concert, the tenor is great for teenagers and adults that are looking for the most volume from their ukulele and extra space for their fingers on the fretboard.

Baritone -As the name suggests, a baritone ukulele is the largest and deepest sounding of all of the ukulele sizes.  Usually tuned like the highest four strings of a guitar (DGBE), rather than the GCEA tuning found on most ukes, a baritone is great if you have a background in guitar because you won't have to learn any new chord shapes.  They are also very fun if you are a ukulele player looking to experiment with a different tone.

Model - Kohala

Kohala Series

The Kohala has all of the aesthetic upgrades of the Mano, including solid top, maple binding, gold tuners, and dual strap pins, but it’s built with acacia wood instead of mahogany. Acacia is revered for its beautiful, full tone and we’ve added abalone-style trim around the body.

Size - Tenor

After a surge in popularity in the last couple of years, the tenor is poised to become the biggest selling uke body size soon.  At 26", it is another increase in size from the concert (at 24").  The benefits of that larger size: you get even more room on the fingerboard to shape the chords and the larger body provides even more resonance, volume and depth.  The tenor ukulele will sound quite a bit deeper than the other options, so it strays a bit from traditional ukulele tone.

    Beautiful Deluxe Kohala Tenor

This ukulele came highly recommended from Mustafa KamalIddin my instructor in the course Ukulele Fingerstyle Basics. I am impressed by the beauty and quality of this ukulele but mostly by the wonderful sound it produces. I also like the fact that Honolua Ukuleles is a family owned company and that they plant a tree for each ukulele sold. If you’re looking for an affordable quality tenor ukulele, look no further than the Deluxe Kohala Tenor from Honolua Ukuleles.

    Wonderful Wahine

I received this lovely ukulele for my birthday. It is beautifully made and sounds even better. I especially like the silky neck; oft times such instruments have too much sticky lacquer on them. The inlay work is of a quality you’d expect from a much more expensive instrument. Mahalo to David and his team !

My new obsession during the pandemic!

I was in search of buying an affordable quality Ukulele to play and sing jingle melodies (virtually) that my piano students wrote, and accidentally came across this website! Although I have no prior experience playing this instrument, I was immediately drawn towards the beautiful lingering sound qualities. The craftsmanship of the instrument was impressive and the Abalone style rosette was a nice touch! I opted for a low G string which gave all chords a warmer sound. All my students enjoyed listening to their jingles accompanied by this wonderful Tenor Ukulele. Needless to say, I am extremely happy with this purchase and would highly recommend this to anyone looking to buy quality instruments!

    Perfect Birthday Present

I bought this for my wife of 46 years for her birthday, and she has hardly put it down since. She has never played the ukulele before, but has already learned half a dozen songs in only a few days. This Tenor Acacia ukulele is a quality instrument all around for a very affordable price. Best value for money anyhere in my opinion, and it's great to support a Canadian company.

    Meet Esmeralda

My third tenor, seventh ukulele overall. Quickly became my favorite instrument and only one worthy of a name. The sound this instrument produces is phenomenal. Solid top Acacia wood produces a sustain that can't be beat. Couldn't be happier with Esmeralda. One thing I really like (took me a couple of days to notice) is the lack of fret buttons on the side of the neck. Gives a nice clean look. My first tenor is officially retired, the Kala Zircote laminate (which was number 1) is now a low g. Overall I highly recommend this product.
